Really??

Don't ever use "All My Sons" as your moving company.. EVER.  Here's the lowdown..... My grandfather has AML (acute myeloid leukemia). Because of this we needed to move him out of the mountains and closer to our local cancer center. We hired All My Sons to come help us pack and move, with the agreement that they would be up to his cabin (1.5hrs of town)before 10:30am. In order to make this feasible, he spends the entire day before (until midnight) at the hospital getting transfused with blood and platelets. Because we need to be to cabin before movers, we leave Boise by 8:30am.
10:30? No movers... 11:00? No movers... Now mind you, we have moved all of the basics (including food) out a few weeks prior. We were coming back for kitchen items, a bed, and other non-essentials.. So, at this point we need to feed the gramps... So, we call the moving company to see what the delay is about. The OWNER states that the movers assigned to "our job" have just finished dropping off some furniture to "another job" and should be out to us in 1.5hrs. We decide to go get some lunch at a local restaurant. At this point my grandfather is HOT. We woke up early and had this all planned out to make the most of our time, and now had wasted 5 hours..... We take our time eating, and get back to the cabin, only to wait, and wait, and wait. Again I call the company to find out what the status was, only to be treated as though my time was not valuable, and "they should be there soon". But, an hour more passes, and they still have not shown. I call back again, just for the OWNER to ask, "What is the issue? Is there some sort of time constraint? They will be there and they will get the job done". When I tell them the time constraint is that I have children getting out of school that I need to get to, the OWNER says, "And are we moving you??" No, but you are moving my grandfather whom I am helping care for, and drove up here!!!! REALLY?? I tell him that I am ready to take gramps back down to town as he is tired and it has been a long day. He reminds me that my grandfather has a contract which his drivers are still able to fulfill.
Within a half hour (now its after 3), 2 drivers show up at the cabin. What a relief, right?? WRONG!! They get the basic info from us and go out to move truck. I walk outside and see that they have managed to get the truck stuck in the dirt. Not just stuck in the dirt, but stuck in the dirt SIDEWAYS, thus blocking us in from leaving (if we wanted/needed to) in any direction. I call the company AGAIN, and tell them that now their truck is stuck in our driveway. He suggests maybe we know somebody nearby that can pull the truck out. Once I make it clear that this is not our responsibility, he agrees to take care of it... I call my brother to come to the cabin, out of fear that I may need to get my grandpa out, and have no escape route...Shortly a tow truck arrives, and actually manages to pull the moving truck out. The driver decides to take the truck down the long drive, turn it around , and back it up the drive. While he is doing this, I am trying to calm my grandpa down, and reassuring him that we are now on the path to moving. Within seconds we look out the window and see the moving truck at the end of the drive with the hood popped. That clearly can't mean anything good... At this point, I am DONE. I call the OWNER and tell him I am taking my grandpa and we are going back to Boise. He actually LAUGHS at me and asks why?, as his movers are there and can still complete the job. I tell him we no longer want his movers to do any job, and ask what he would have his drivers do, as we are leaving and the cabin phone is the only source of communication up there..He actually insisted that we let his movers begin packing the house while he had a repair man come fix truck. HAHA!! What a joke!!He demanded payment from us for the time his movers were at the cabin. Nevermind that the only thing they did was try to fix the truck!!  At this point one of their movers had already used our phone to call his girlfriend and let her know that he was quitting his job with "All My Sons". We offered him a ride back to Boise in which he gratefully accepted. The other driver insisted on staying with the truck, as he feared losing his job. He finally agreed to let me take him to the closest gas station, where at least he would have access to a phone and food. We returned to Boise just before 8pm, with nothing accomplished, and no apology or understanding from "All My Sons".
I believe in Karma....
